Re: TWO ROCK EMERALD PRO REVISITED 5 years later
I remember hearing a krinard modded showman at the old Black Creek Guitars. Infinite clear sustain with a Strat! He also had bills version of Santana's Dumble.

Re: Overdrive Special Still Not the Perfect Amp!
I don't post very much, and I don't understand the electronics of it but superficially. I use a 50 watt 183 clone with a 112 Two Rock cab. I've played it outside ,inside , in different venues different volumes, and I never fail to get a great tone which other musicians often comment on positively. I...

Re: 183 Comparsion
[quote="Mac Daddy"][quote="pman"]it's difficult to characterize the feel of the two amps. but i can say that they were very close. i hate to sound cliched but the dumble had a little extra sweetness-nastiness in general and a ,oh hell, squisheyness on the initial attack of the note. ****************...

Re: 183 Comparsion
My pleasure Brad! thank you so much for your time. it was great seeing you again. Man, did i overplay or what???please excuse my excitement. but it was like crossing off "play a real dumble" from the bucket list. let me tell you ,the TKT is one great amp! the dumble had some more to it, but the TKT ...

Re: Robben Ford used redknob Fender + 2 x Tubescreamer RI
it's in the fingers, it's in the amp. stop! you're both right! a great touch can make a mediocre amp sound better , and a great amp live up to it's full potential. and imo, the touch has to match to the amp. a friend of mine played thru my two rock and made it sound so terrible i had to play it myse...

Re: strat clip with nHRM

Re: Two nonHRM clips
very very nice clip.the tone was fantastic and your light touch really brings out the touch dynamics of the amp. i like 6L6's better. non hrm ? wow, what a sound!

Re: to HRM or not
I can generalize, I've built a few of both now based on the schematics found on this forum and IME the properly tweaked non-HRM has more sustain on overdriven notes because it's more distorted. The HRM still has plenty of sustain but sings differently and never sounds as distorted. Both amps have th...

Re: to HRM or not
Well a lot depends on how you set the post-od tone stack.. turn the mid control down and the amp can sound somewhat compressed, however I've played a couple of real HRM Dumbles, and the weren't compressed at all, in fact, quite the opposite. You have to take the entire circuit into account, and some...

Re: to HRM or not
[quote="Funkalicousgroove"]In my experience the standard 80's style amp is far more forgiving, and has quite a bit more compressed overdrive. It's no where near the compression of say a Boogie, but still has alot more than the HRM. I personally prefer the HRM, with that circuit you get 4 really dist...
