Re: Tone Tubby Speakers in D-Style Amps

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to play it safe and get the Celestion speaker. I was into the idea of using an alnico but in my limited experimentation I seem to like ceramic speakers more. Those Tone Tubbys are pretty expensive as well (though the celestions aren't cheap either). Do you guys find th...

Tone Tubby Speakers in D-Style Amps

I was checking out Steve Kimock's website and he describes that he uses Tone Tubby alnico speakers in the cabs for both his Dumble and Two Rock amps. Has anyone here tried this combination? How do they compare to the Celestion G12-65 reissues? I would imagine they have a very different character tha...

Re: youtube clip

Check out the clips of Chuck D'Aloia playing a Fender Esprit. I really like the tone with that guitar too.

Re: Ceriatone Dumble

Paul, I have not engaged in any negativity since Nik and I cleared things up ages ago. The story about my friend ( "CB" in my post) not being happy is 100% true. He said the OD was way too bright and aggressive. Quite clearly due to the OD entrance network, reduced bypass on OD2, and bright cap. Yo...

Re: Ceriatone Dumble

Thanks Dogears, Yes, the amp is pretty darned bright and certainly has a lot of sizzle in the OD. That is what I want to tame a bit. I am also finalizing the list of D'Lite mods as well. If you don't mind, please keep us (me) informed with the Overtone mods. It would be much appreciated. Chris So y...

Of course I was kidding. Sorry if it wasn't funny. If I was going to pretend to be somebody it defintely wouldn't be John Mayer. 8)

Re: dumble amps

Funny and interesting, but doing a search on the verizon white pages there is only one listing in CA for a person named Howard A Dumble. ????? He goes by Alexander, call him Howard and he will sit on you. Sunland sounds right, could he be 62 ? Howard Dumble 8829 Riderwood Dr Sunland, CA 9104...

OK gotcha. Where do you guys get the schematics for D-style amps then?

Re: Dumble 150w

OK, a silly question. If there is a circuit diagram in a mass-published book then why is there such mystery about what is "under the goop" in these amps and why is everyone so interested in taking apart real dumbles? In addition, wouldn't HAD himself have a problem with this schematic being publishe...

Re: LOL

What would you like to know? It's really not THAT hard to contact him, However, From what I understand, unless you are Carlos Santana and basically support him, he doesn't build amps anymore. If he likes you, and approves of your playing he will mod a PRISTINE blackface bassman for you to the tune ...

Do you guys have a link to the twinkleland site? I could only find the preamp that he makes on his site. Thanks,

Any Ceriatone TW Clone Owners in D.C.?

Any of you guys who own a Ceriatone Trainwreck clone live in the D.C. area? I am thinking of buying one but can't decide if I want the Express or liverpool. Thanks,

D'lite

Cool. I would love to get a D'lite but i really don't have the dough to buy it and don't have the skills to build one. I've got to build a tweed duluxe or something and work my way up to building more complex amps. The Dumble-style amp would probably be too much for me for a first build though.

Jack, Just talked to Nik. He's just waiting on faceplates. It was $865. Ya, I'm pretty curious to see what it sounds like and any amp for less than a grand in Japan is well.....rare...lol. Hell, Champs are going for that on Yahoo auctions  Yikes. That significantly more expensive than the re...
