Re: reissue Jensen C12N, some year better, or other problems?
Several years back, a California cousin came to visit, and was talking about his BJ that he just couldn't get to sound like he wanted. I had a Weber alnico I gave him to try, he installed it when he got home, and raved about "that" was the sound he was looking for! He sent me the C12N, but later I p...

Re: Cab joints strength...
I know biscuits are not the traditional joint, but I've had good luck with them. Been several years since the initial build, and no problems, and pretty easy to do.

Re: Name and sources of 'beading'?
I have only tried once to use it around the speaker baffle, and realized that it requires more setback to look right. I assume one cuts a groove in the cab for the look you are going for, I'm curious what pitfalls you might encounter!

It was Wrangler that partnered with Fender to cover their guitar cases, I actually bought one last year, as they were discounted to under $100!

I'll also add that I worried over a straight line at the splice, found that the plastic nozzle that comes with spray chemicals is a good fit. I made the splice in the bottom center trying my best to keep it un noticed!

Re: Next up, grill cover
I found out on my first attempt at piping that the baffle has to be set in a little further.

Re: Make large rectangle holes in 1.6mm steel chassis?
I had to open a chassis for a larger transformer a while back, so I took it to our local machine shop. I drew out the lines to cut, and they milled it out. I drilled the mounting holes after I got the chassis back, and it wasn't much money!

Re: Favourite speaker boxes?
I am a fan of the EV TL cabs, and EVM12 speakers. Back in the day, I took the TL806Q design, and cut it in half, using the cabs for our PA mids with EVM12S speakers. After downsizing the PA, I found that they make great guitar cabs after bringing one to a pedal steel player when he blew his Black Wi...

Re: Threaded Screw repair
I recently discovered another fastener option, I disassembled a display from behind my grocery store for a shelf. They have serrated coarse threads into the wood, and machine threads internally. The majority in the display were 1/4 x 20, (so far I haven't found a use, but I kept them!) 20200410_1000...

Re: my first cabinet build
My first build had a wavy grill cloth pattern that annoyed me, my friend told me to pull the grill, and straighten the lines. I realized that the staples come out just as easy as they go in! Now I spend a lot of time pulling staples, and re tensioning the cloth. (Yeah sometimes after I think it's fi...

I have a Silverface UL chassis that has slotted holes. Centering the hole would be 1.5" from the top edge of the chassis.

I also have some plans I modified from the 806Q for a 2-12, (works great as a mid PA speaker, or guitar).

Re: wiring 8 and 4 ohm tap
I did the switching jack for 4, and 8 ohm options on my DR build. The shorting jack in the "main", and with a plug in the "aux" jack it switches to 4 ohm. If necessary to run a 4 ohm load with one speaker, just plug a dummy plug in to switch impedance. I figure, I'm more likely to use 2 8 ohm speake...
