I like the ECL82 idea for the reverb, it certainly economizes on socket space.

Re: Overdrive Special 50W with ECL82 Pentode Reverb

Gibson used the similar solution for the reverb in their Falcon amps from '60. 7199 tube was used, triode + pentode in one tube. Don´t knew that before, first I try a 12AX7 Reverb, but Tube was driven much outer Limits,so I end up calculate loadlines for the ECL82 and decide to go with it,much better...

Re: Steel String Singer#002 build from Scratch

Some people believe that even if you have a center tap on the heater winding, a better balance can be achieved with two 100-ohm resistors, or even a pot to adjust the balance. You should use either the actual CT or the resistor CT, never both. Than better use a wirewound Pot,called Humdinger to bal...

timrobertson100 wrote: Sun Feb 16, 2025 4:33 pm Perhaps a daft question… you don’t use 100R balancing resistors when elevating the heaters?
There´s no Need for Balancing Heaters if using PT with Center Tap !!! it is already balanced!

Re: Steel String Singer #005 build

I think, the #002 is the one real SSS,#005 is without CF Driver? i think, there was a Ceriatone #005 Variant, and in Germany,we call it "Sparbier" Version, cause it was chopped,or a mix from several Variants :? Just as is with the different ODS amps out there, having different flavours but still mainta...

As for my thread about the #002 build: I initially started this whole journey with the idea of building some sort of Steel String Singer. About half a year ago I stumbled upon this forum, found Erwin's thread and being the quick thinker that I am bought one of his chassis. Just a few weeks later I ...

I Use 2N4416 (TO-72 package) in my ODS Build, and also in my SSS Build, and them working great! You only have to Bias them right!

get some NOS 2N4416 from slowakia, but the ones from Mouser will do it too.
