Re: Help with Hum... ground loop, wiring?
Plug in the guitar and turn down the volume of the guitar. Still hum? It's the amp. Doesn't hum anymore? It's the guitar's shielding grounding. High gain amps hum more than lower gain. Higher volume produces more hum. If it's the amp causing it (ground loops, tranny placement, etc.) it'll hum with t...

Re: Ghost notes with 18 watt Marshall circuit clone.HELP
Play through a different speaker to rule out cone cry.
If it still happens, it's most likely filter cap related. Add another 22uf of filtering and see if that helps. If it doesn't, reduce the filtering by 22uf and test. If that still doesn't work, you've likely got a bad cap or two.
Good luck!

Re: Ground switch on new builds
120V AC on your guitar strings is no fun. Use a properly grounded, 3-prong cord.

Is my PT dead? How do I verify?
Hi guys, I've got an Ampeg B15 N Portaflex on the bench with what I suspect is a dead PT. When I disconnect all secondaries and only have HOT>switch>fuse>PT>NEUTRAL connected, the fuse blows. With no load on the secondary, this seems to show that the PT is blown. BUT, I get no connection between the...

Re: Faceplate Graphics
Did KF use a soldering iron to do the faceplates? It's like the wood burning projects in shop in 8th grade! Remember those?
I've not done it yet, but I'm pretty sure we can laser engrave onto wood if anyone is looking to try it. Give me a yell and we can work up a design....

Re: FYI: I make custom faceplates for DIY amps
Thanks Omar! I was hoping that would be the case. Shoot me an email when you're ready for that plate, I do plexi style stuff all the time for folks.

FYI: I make custom faceplates for DIY amps
I hope this isn't inappropriate here, if it is, admins please advise. I've lurked around this board for a while now (especially the pics), but I just wanted to introduce my company to you guys. I run Amplates.com, which makes custom designed faceplates for DIY guitar amps. Just so you know, a bunch ...
