Looking For Amp Transformers

Is there a place to find good but fairly inexpensive power and output transformers? I know Mercury comes highly recommended but I don't really have the budget for those.

Re: Fenter Twin Replacement Transformers

In all likelihood the reduction in heater load of 1.8 amps will take the Heater voltage above 6.9 volts, but you can just leave all 4 output tubes in the amp, but only have two of them wired up to the B+ on pins 3 and 4 . Would there be a way to reduce the heater load if the extra tubes are removed...

Fenter Twin Replacement Transformers

I need some technical help with a mod. I want to replace my fender twin 100 watt output transformer with a 40-50 watt OT - like in a bassman or something like that. Would I have to change my Power Transformer or would it still work with a lower wattage OT?

Mercury Magnetics Transformer Wiring Question

There are two gray leads. I don't know whether to float one end or ground it and don't want to blow anything up. I at...

Re: Temperature Controlled Solder Station Question

Here is a good general guide to soldering: https://www.techspray.com/ultimate-guide-to-electronic-soldering 600-650F is recommended for Pb-Sn solder and 650-700F for lead free. You can read about the pros and cons. I use Pb-Sn solder and generally have my solder station set close to 700F, and I can...

Temperature Controlled Solder Station Question

Newbie question here. I've always just used a good wattage soldering iron for projects but my last one took a nose dive so it was time to replace it. From everything I was reading about it I just got my first digital temperature controlled soldering station - a Hakko FX888D. I am wondering what reco...
