Re: plotting out deluxe rvb with some dumble bits
Thanks for the message Martin! I’m just super jazzed about this amp. I know I sound like a teenager, but it really feels like it does what I need better than any amp I’ve ever played. Now the key is seeing how it scales. I would be interested trying similar build style with a Vibrolux or pro. The pr...

Re: plotting out deluxe rvb with some dumble bits
What it does is produce the classic "blackface" sound, but is able to hold it together through almost its whole volume range. The clean sound has significantly more low end than a standard Deluxe reverb, which is where I was struggling in the past. See above, and I'd guess the Fender stack in the c...

Re: plotting out deluxe rvb with some dumble bits
I'm not able to parse out the individual pieces that have contributed to the success of this build, but I am very pleased with it. I have a few deluxe reverbs, as well as a number of other blackface Fenders, and I find this amp to easily surpass any of the other Deluxes I've owned. My desire, as sta...

Re: plotting out deluxe rvb with some dumble bits
This was a couple of pages back-
I have V2 coming off off P4, and V1 coming off of P5
my voltages in order.
I was expecting a little higher output from the PT, but with the Weber “cap” rectifier I’m getting 400 at OT. Used a 1.5k for P3, then 15k and 2.2– getting 385 at P3, 295 at P4, and 285 at P5

Re: plotting out deluxe rvb with some dumble bits
Yes, I have the same as the DR schematic in tremolo and PI circuit, as well as power amp section. I changed some of the ground spots, but its all the same. I don't have a good way to check this stuff on the road and don't have the exact voltages on hand. I do remember that the PI voltages were sligh...

Re: plotting out deluxe rvb with some dumble bits
The 3n3 is the one coming out of the 2nd stage of the reverb recovery.
I used the MM fat stack OT. FBFDR-O-FS
I’ll look at what you have once I have access to a computer

Re: plotting out deluxe rvb with some dumble bits
I pretty much used your schematic for pre. I’m traveling now, but just put a 1MA pot on end of drive circuit. Using the 220k/220k mixer resistor. All the same trem and PI-output tubes as deluxe reverb. I posted the schematic of the power section as well. I did put a .001 cap on the 220k in the rever...

Re: plotting out deluxe rvb with some dumble bits
Mid tour report. Very happy with the amp! Playing with two other guitarists. One is using a vibrolux and the other a blues deville, so I am the quietest on stage. I love that I can get the amp to the exact sweet spot and am never too loud coming off the stage. The PAB in this circuit almost makes it...

Re: plotting out deluxe rvb with some dumble bits
Touring is always like that. On the kickoff tour for my new band, i showed up with my touring amp and as we were leaving, the other guitarist, who had rented the van said "that amp is too big, it won't fit..you can borrow one of mine." He had an extra Fender Blues Deville. We left for the tour, and ...

Re: plotting out deluxe rvb with some dumble bits
The heaters around the recovery lead are pretty far from the tube, and I made that even more extreme. The driver tube is a little closer because of the tag strips around the tubes. I went ahead and redid the RG174. I never feel that good about that cable. I have some similar, but more stout cable th...

Re: plotting out deluxe rvb with some dumble bits
Incidentally, I found an interesting thing with the input of the amp and the volume pot on my guitar. When I go from 0-10 there is a spot towards the middle that has a little more hum than the top or bottom. What is interesting is that it happens on all of my strats, and it happens on my other Dumbl...

Re: plotting out deluxe rvb with some dumble bits
Here are shots of recovery tube area , middle of board, and reverb pot. You can see the high and wiper coming from board(4.7nF and 470k). Reverb grounb is currently going to the B/C grounding spot, but I initially had it at the D ground spot. No difference. I also have the 220k to ground V2 and 3 ca...

Re: plotting out deluxe rvb with some dumble bits
Grounding the return of reverb doesn't change this. I still get additional hum at reverb level. A few things I'm thinking about -I don't have a cap on the 220k from output return to ground. I know that helps with picking up stray oscillations. -I have a 4.7nF, instead of a 3.3nF from plate 1 of the ...
