Re: Thank You TAG Community - My 124 Build
Nice looking build indeed! Love the suede on those cabs too. How do you like the EV speakers? I have the 65’s with mine but my curiosity is pushing me to try those out.

Re: Dumble 183 output transformer 2.2k
I have a 1202-132 (2.2k) OT that I used for my 183 build. I ordered it from Marstran or Metroamp but if I’m not mistaking metroamp is not longer selling transformers but they are listed on the Marstran site as a special order. The amp sounds great!

Re: ODS rebuild
Martin, I would agree that the CC’s were a big part of the problem. I measured the ones I pulled yesterday before I tossed them just out of curiosity and they all read higher values. A few were so far out of spec I have not doubt they specifically contributed to the harsh sound.

Re: ODS rebuild
The original caps were 6PS replaced with NOS 6PS and yes a lot of components was changed so maybe just a combination of all. But soldering on the fist build was just as good. I pride myself on soldering for fear of cold solder joints and trying to back track errors

ODS rebuild
I recently (over the holidays) rebuilt my ODS style amp and what a difference it made! My first build, which I did last year was not a good sounding amp at all! It was harsh and very bright sounding until I built a lator for it and that made a huge improvement. I couldn’t let it go how bad it sounde...

Re: ODS 100w build now sounds great!
Tried the tube swap first with no success and went completely over the amp 3x’s checking components, bias, etc. I find it odd myself but I am glad I have a usable tone now but still bothers me why that did the trick

ODS 100w build now sounds great!
Long long story short…. I finished my ODS clone build about a month ago (100w 6L6) and absolutely hated the tone from the normal input. With my les paul it was too bright on the treble pickup and too dark on the neck with no middle ground for adjustment using the tone controls. My strat sounded like...

Re: Help me mod my 102 - it's too bright!
For guitars, I'm playing strat, tele, and SG in typical pickup configurations - Strat = 3 singles; tele = 2 singles; SG = 2 humbuckers. Yeah, the Texas Heat was definitely a darker speaker. With the master bright cap gone and the EVM in there, I feel like I'm at a similar brightness to when the Tex...

Re: Getting a smoother OD
I agree!!!! I was going to use the mojotone OT but like you said they were out of stock so I opted for the Hammond. I’m in the process now of gathering parts for a 183 build except this time I’m going to play around with parts/components to see what/where the tonal affects are.

Re: Getting a smoother OD
Wow Phil, when I ran across this thread I thought that was my amp for a sec :D :) :D. When I first built mine I couldn’t believe how bright it was but I also had 2 new g12-65 speakers that I had to break in and really no burn in time on the amp. I put the speakers on a varic looped the amp for about...

Re: #0124 capacitor/resistor combo
I only noticed the amp is a little brighter with the HOF but with or without it sounds great. The only issue I had was breaking in those g12-65’s. Put them on a varic and really mellowed them out!!!!

Re: #0124 capacitor/resistor combo
I never used a dumbleator just the HOF straight in.
