Re: Fender Musicmaster Bass amp buzz - help!
watch out some amps have a doghouse on top of the chassis with caps. I got caught with that one, it was the shock of my life.

Re: What to build with 2 el34s
that looks a lot like mine but mine is not as pretty. The chassis got dropped on one end and bent it a bit and the paint is toast, but the transformers should be fine. My dad got it at a garage sale for like 5 bucks and it's been collecting dust in my house for several years. If I had two of them I ...

I put a 10k/470k on the input. I can't really tell any difference.

Re: What to build with 2 el34s
I agree the transformers are huge. I would fab up a custom chassis for it.

What to build with 2 el34s
I have a beat up audiomaster 11a amp laying around. Was going to ebay it bit I was thinking I could use the trannys for a new dumble style amp, the question is which one. Like a lot of people I like the larry carlton, (90's) robben ford sound. I have a dlite clone now with 6v6 but I don't think it s...

Re: Best place to kill hiss
was this circuit designed with the voltage divider because of the multiple inputs? since I'm just using one input would it be better to do away with the divider and use a 1meg with a 10k stopper?

Re: Best place to kill hiss
since this circuit is a voltage divider input is it still a good idea to decrease the grid stopper to 10k? Is it still a grid stopper in this case?

Re: Best place to kill hiss
If I'm understanding you, you are saying increase the 150k on the voltage divider to 1 meg? Wouldn't this make the input kind of hot for modern basses?

Re: Octal tube preamp or OD in Dumble?
I built a boost pedal with a 12sj7 and it sounds pretty good in front of my dlite clone It does have a little hum at high gain settings, not sure if elevated heaters or a humdinger would cure that. You can check it out here: http://jonesamps.webs.com/jonesampsschematics.htm

Re: Best place to kill hiss
Roll your tubes and select the quietest one you can find for V1. Replace the 1M resistor that goes from the wiper of the treble and the grid of V2 (pin 8 ) with a 1M pot. This will also help tame your touchy volume control issue.) So lowering the value of the 1 meg off the treble will help the touc...

Re: Variable Supply Voltage Regulation [e.g. Power Scaling (TM)]
I did it on a couple of amps and didn't really like it. I find a master volume works best coupled with a lower wattage amp. Even my firefly at less than a watt is loud as heck.

Best place to kill hiss
My sunn clone is sounding pretty good but has some very high frequency hiss. Is there a good spot in the circuit to kill it without killing tone?http://www.4tubes.com/SCHEMATICS/BY-BRA ... /2000s.gif
