A belated thank you. It was the cables after all (intermittent) New ones installed and amp is functioning normally. I learned something in the process so all good Made me contemplate making my own BFD but with normal channel and gain channel (instead of vibrato) but too many other projects to finish...

If anyone ever searches this topic again I have some answers. I have two versions of the Partridges in question, an old heavily lacquered version with yellow partridge labels and a newer unlacquered version, both are TG9875 Old is TG9875/H3712M Primaries Black (thick) 0v Yellow(thick)120v Red (thin)...

Looks like a Metroamp based 100w ‘plexi’. It has the no loss effects loop and optional Mercury transformers. The pics I can see have clipped off the preamp so I cannot see what those pots and extra switches are doing. I would have expected wiring to a footswitch. There appears to be a resonance cont...

I subbed in the resistor and made sure there was a proper ground to the shield

The pot acts a a volume control now, so I guess that a new tank is in order. It is a fairly short Belton device, IIRC 5 springs?

Brian Wallace at Marstran lists some TW spec trannies, can't vouch for these particular ones but I rate his vintage Drake spec products.

Thanks for the quick response. Sounds sensible (so typical pan is 4k7 passive resistor).

I will have to complete to days 'Honey Do' tasks but will take another look later.
