I’m thinking about a couple other changes too and wondering if anyone can offer insite:
Switch to EL34’s...apparently this tightens the bass?
Leave the 6L6 and go with 470 screen resistors

Re: HRM Trimmers
Hey burntfingers, I did this year a build with the HRM controls in the front of my amp. I also added a defeat switch to lift the HRM ground. HRM_Front.jpg I realized I usually prefer the sound without the HRM tonestack in the signal path. It really damps down the sound. As some of the signal is bei...

Re: Achieving a 'Bigger' Sound
Thanks for the reply....I removed the 1n cap from the bass pot and that helped a little. I’ve dialed in the HRM pots and have a great sound cooking now but it doesn’t have the girth the CA had...I’m thinking the CA’s output transformer has the most to do with that. The PAB is very thin so I’m going ...

Achieving a 'Bigger' Sound
Hi All, Thanks for all the information provided here...I've been reading like crazy and learning a lot thanks to this forum. Please excuse any dumb questions here. I've recently picked up a C-tone HRM 50 watt. It came with MM transformers. I installed F&T in the filter caps (220uf and 22uf) and lowe...

Re: HRM Trimmers
Thanks for the reply...I’m going to tweak the values in these. What wattage trimmer should be used here?

Re: Shouldn't every ODS clone have a built in Dumbleator?
Thanks...that’s good info. What would the lower voltages do to the tone?

Re: Shouldn't every ODS clone have a built in Dumbleator?
Well crap...however I see they sell a power supply too. It seems like this would be a quick and cheap way to build an external dumbleator.

Re: Shouldn't every ODS clone have a built in Dumbleator?
Thanks for the reply...that makes a lot of sense. I had a Carol OD2 and the effects loop was essentially the master volume. You could get things cooking where you like and then adjust the level that way. Looks like I better figure out the best way to add one to the amp. I don't think the Ceriatone l...

Re: Shouldn't every ODS clone have a built in Dumbleator?
Hi...new guy here...please excuse the dumb questions. Would it be fair to say that... > if you were to use a dumbleator for the tone shaping characteristics only (not as a true effects loop) > that at stage volume, you would not see that much difference in the tone change? I've been reading about th...

HRM Trimmers
Hi All, Newbie here...thanks for all the knowledge sharing! I've got C-tone HRM inbound and I'm trying to figure the best way to put the HRM trimmers on the outsite. I was wondering if concentric pots would work or if I should just bite the bullet and pop some holes in the front and add some pots? D...
