Still looking for a better price, and after a LOT of looking so far the best I've found is $55.50 PLUS $9.99 shipping for a gallon of Wilsonart h2o so $65.49 shipped. I really need to find it cheaper IF I can.amplifiednation wrote:I've covered well over 500 cabs in Wilsonart H20. It's worth it

Re: please recommend a good alternative to "Tolex Glue"
Phazor, Thank you for commenting. Yes, without a doubt IF I decide to try ANYTHING other than actual Tolex Glue I will start out with a quart size and go from there. I think I am going to order a few "samples" of the different Marine Vinyls I am considering and get a quart of one of the flooring adh...

Re: please recommend a good alternative to "Tolex Glue"
Yep, $80 a gallon is just too much, I did find a supplier in TN who will sell it for $55.50 plus about $9.98 for shipping so that's not quite as bad but still pretty high as far as I'm concerned. I was looking around online and I found a tolex thread on a "steel guitar" forum and a guy who builds ca...

Re: please recommend a good alternative to "Tolex Glue"
JMFahey, Thanks for your reply to the thread. IF I used the Flooring type of Adhesive on the sides and back panels I was figuring on having to wait over night or even a couple of days. That's NOT a problem as I have the room to let it all set as long as it needs to set. Don't get me wrong, I'd like ...

Re: please recommend a good alternative to "Tolex Glue"
At this point, I'm considering these options: Dap Weldwood Non Flammable 1 gal, $37.98, by itself, http://www.homedepot.com/p/DAP-Weldwood-1-Gal-Non-Flamable-Contact-Cement-203898/202588232 OR Roberts 2057 1 gallon at $13.27 for the "flats" http://www.homedepot.com/p/Roberts-2057-1-gal-Premium-Vinyl...

Re: please recommend a good alternative to "Tolex Glue"
Thanks for taking the time Pops to reply to this thread. I understand the fact that Hyde Glue is what Fender originally used and that it's great BUT I really want to stay with a cold glue and water based at that when I do my builds. IF I have to I guess I'll get the regular Tolex glue BUT IF at all ...

Re: please recommend a good alternative to "Tolex Glue"
Thanks Phazor, for the info. I don't think I'm gonna go a "Hyde" glue route, I guess the thought of having to heat it and work pretty fast is a little intimidating to me since these 4 cabs and 2 rack cases will be my very first time out to Tolex anything. I really want to stay with stuff that is wat...

Re: please recommend a good alternative to "Tolex Glue"
The problem with this adhesive is that it doesn't stay open very long. If you are using it to apply tolex, you'll need to be fast and accurate. Thanks for the reply "Phil_S, So you used something like this on your floor, just a different brand, correct? http://www.robertsconsolidated.com/files/supp...

Very interested in this that I have copied and pasted here,,,,,, "I've also read online where some have used a water based contact cement on the edges and corners AND "flooring Adhesive", "Carpet Adhesive" or "Vinyl tile Adhesive" on the larger flat areas, IF you have used this method PLEASE share e...

Re: please recommend a good alternative to "Tolex Glue"
The best thing I've found is Better Bond Tolex Adhesive, but it Is water based. I tried a bunch of other types and they didn't work worth a flip even though I followed the instruction religiously. Yes, that's the $49 gallon one I mentioned. Plus $17 shipping. Custom Pak Adhesives sales it to them a...

please recommend a good alternative to "Tolex Glue"
Hey guys, The only reason I'm asking this question is because I NEED to hold the cost of things down as much as I can, or I'd just go ahead and buy the h2o as is so often praised on this forum ............. In a few weeks or months I hope to get to build my cabs and racks so please recommend a good ...
