Re: Buying an Amp Just to Reverse Engineer?
My reason for asking is that I have a Traynor YGM3 that I foolishly gutted. I was thinking about getting a Budda SD18 and reversing it. I would then build a reasonable clone and tweak it to sound like the original and sell the Budda. I was also wondering if there would be an amp that hasn't been rev...

Buying an Amp Just to Reverse Engineer?
Has anyone done this? Besides TW and Dumble of course. I've thought about getting a Budda 18 to reverse and build into my Traynor YGM3. For most amps if you're patient you might break even after selling it. What are some other amps you'd like to see reversed?

I think it's like a Gov but flatter in the mids. To me it sounds better in a sealed cab.Markusv wrote:Hmmmm

I have a Governor in mine and have used it with a Private Jack

Re: Getting The Building Itch Again.
I plan on using an Emi Wizard I have lying around. I'd like to voice it to work with OD pedals that don't work well with Fenders.Markusv wrote:Re-build that Traynor
Tweak the tone stack to be more like a Marshall 18 watt, perhaps put a nice new speaker in and off you go
Great amps
My 2 cents

Getting The Building Itch Again.
I'm the type of guy who goes from one interest to another and circle back around every once in awhile. I've done lots of mods but have been inactive for a few years. Well I have a Sovtek Mig100 that is gutted that I promised my son I'd build into something cool. A channel switching amp of some kind....

Re: Kevin O'connor parrallel effects loop
I did the TUT1 version about 7 or 8 years ago. Seemed like the fx side was lower volume than the dry side. I tweaked it somehow to bring up the level. Don't remember what I did though.

Re: Commercially Available TWreck Style Amps
And I have never heard that an Alessandro was even close..though the cab looks similar. I believe I have an old issue of VG mag where Ken is quoted as saying that one of The Alessandro models is "closest to a Wreck" in an Alessandro ad. Of course He later recanted in a letter that was posted on thi...

Starting a New Build
I've got a Traynor YGM3 (2xEL-84) amp that I'm going to use for a Climax lead channel clone. It's got an Emi Red Fang speaker. I'm doing a lot of reading up since it's been awhile since I've done a project. I'll keep You all posted and add pics if I can.

There You Guys are!
I was hanging around this forum when it was over on Yahoo. After it moved here My computer crashed and I got busy with a move from CA. to Idaho and lost track of You Guys. I'm settled down a bit and am really itching to build an amp now. I've got a couple of old carcasses lying around that are first...
