Big difference between testing across a plate vs cathode vs other resistors using this approach.

In what way? I'm attempting to do this with a voltage divider, wherein I'm paralleling R2. R1 is preceded by the 12ax7 plate, but there is a cap in between it and the plate.

So how would this pan out?

Thanks for the reply. By "strapping" did you mean to say "swapping"? Or did you mean "strapping", like to strap onto-like as in Piggyback?
