Re: high gain lee jackson gp 1000
Are all the front pots grounded through the front-face of the chassis? I saw some old post by Carmeron I've seem to neglect/not notice.... Still have the noise on both units, but are shipping off the original 88 to the Finnish tech when he gets back to me about payment options and shipment. Clone d...

Re: high gain lee jackson gp 1000
i took my preamp over to my mother in laws house out in the middle of nowhere. difference in hum was like night and day. there was still some hum if i really(really!!) listened for it but nothing like i was getting in my house. so i guess only solutions would be a faraday cage room or a really nice ...

Re: high gain lee jackson gp 1000
Bypass the active preamp and get back to us. i dont have an extra pot and the one in there is attached to the active pre. i could pull that off but risk messing up the pre's pcb.... i do have the switch hooked up so i can bypass the gain boost. with that deactivated the hum is a lot quieter but so ...

Re: high gain lee jackson gp 1000

[img:3264:1840]http://i.imgur.com/dXWHjwr.jpg[/img] shows shielded cavity and cover. this guitar does have an actual battery holder but i moved ...

Re: high gain lee jackson gp 1000
was able to get ahold of another amp. same hum/buzz on that one too even on clean. tells me the preamp wasnt the cause of that problem.
im going to take the preamp to another location to verify. im thinking that my house is just in a bad location with TONS of emi.

Re: high gain lee jackson gp 1000
It could generate hum, but I've never experimented that it has too much hum to handle, and at least not with EMG mics. You could try to sheild everything better, but my guess is that this is an amp issue. I mean does other amps sound the same with the guitar? Are all grids sheilded? Are any V1,2 an...

Re: high gain lee jackson gp 1000
so its looking like i should move the ground for the rectifier and (reservoir?) cap onto a different chassis ground point than the others(originals had it on same lug as the power chord ground). does this seem correct? i dont mind trying it out i just want to make sure this is what you are thinking ...
