Re: Tranwreck Express with effectsloop?
Well, yeah - if you insist on using font end pedals in the loop. Rack units with line level signals are a different ballpark entirely. I just stuck my first passive FX loop into a high gain amp - it's not as high gain as a TW, but it's pretty strong. Honestly, I expected it to suck and it doesn't. B...

Re: A Rocket (or Liverpool) with 7189s?
Marcel, Could you give me the secondary wire colors on the OT wiring on your amp? I believe our OT's are the same (4-8-16 ohm). I don't remember which one mine is wired to, the speaker jack. Could explain some imbalance that may be there. Thanks, Mike Hey dude, this is Marcel Bagnole (I was having ...

Nice build, man. I would like to hear it! The only thing I would note is that style of buss bar across the back of the pots makes it a nightmare later on if you have to replace one of them. But I don't have a better solution.

Re: Fender Vibrato Circuit: Twin or Princeton?
I am not a fan of roach trems in general, but note this info, which I got over on Doug Hoffman's site. The ticking goes away if you substitute an incandescant bulb or LED for the neon roach: 1. Cut open the trem bug. 2. Remove the neon lamp. 3. Replace the neon lamp with a red LED. (See notes.) 4. T...

Re: 18 Watt TMB with Tremelo
The trem from the Matchless Hurricane uses only half of one 12AX7 and it works on the 18 Watt power amp just fine (it's a power tube wiggler circuit).

Re: new build: 18 watt lite IIb
Very nice looking amp. I love the Lite IIB; I have made three of them, although after the first one I started adding things. One had an additional preamp channel from a Blonde Twin and that is a GREAT amp - much more versatile than the stock Lite. Then last week I took my original Lite and added a s...

Re: This clip rocks!
This is preposterous. All you have to do is say "inspired by Trainwreck" and they can't touch you. That's how all those Beatles "tribute" bands get by. I agree with Trainwreck that they have a copyrighted name but as long as no one is claiming the amp is a Trainwreck and is clear that it is "inspire...

Re: rjguitar Rocket build
Very nice work. The grounding scheme you are talking about is interesting and I'm going to see if I can copy some of it in the build I'm working on now. I have always tried to use the Hoffman buss style wiring across the backs of the pots but it is SUCH a major PITA if you ever have to change anythi...

Re: Which Edcor OT for a Rocket?
Thanks. Your link is spelled wrong but I found the right page anyway.
Hey, that's great; his price is the same as the Edcor "not-perfect-specs" units I was looking at. Excellent.
EDIT: Thanks again. I've emailed rjguitars about this.

Which Edcor OT for a Rocket?
Pardon my confusing names; I had trouble with the board and my original name (this one - it's an old account and I had lost the password but the board wouldn't send me a new one - oh, never mind, LOL) and I had to create a new account yesterday to post and ask about using 7189s in a Rocket. So Tyran...

why 35 watts?
I am having trouble figuring out why the Express is rated at 35 watts with a pair of fixed bias EL34's. I'm also a little puzzled by all of the schematics showing EL34's AND 6V6 tubes, but I am assuming that with the 6V6 tubes you switch to a different speaker tap, right? But the wattage thing has m...
