Re: O'Connor plexi build?

Thank you.
I will try to add some of his ideas. The one in particular is having a bias control for each tube and having 4 tubes to offer a different tone from a 2 tube amp and being able to switch from 4 to 2 tubes. That's just cool IMO....
Thanks again for your help!

O'Connor plexi build?

Hi all Has anyone ever built a plexi or any other amp from the Kevin O'Connor tonnes of tone books? I ask because I tried to build a simple tremolo pedal from one of his books and could never get it to work no matter how many times I tried! I have built many pedals and rarely ran into a problem I co...

what amp/Jeff Beck

Hey all
What amp does Jeff Beck use on live at Ronnie Scotts?
I love that tone!! Unbelievable tone as far as I'm concerned. I see he has Marshalls stacked up but I can't see which one is on. I see a smaller Marshall, is that an 18 watter?
Anyway, thank you for any and all info!

Re: chassis and caps

Would 20uF caps be OK instead of 22uF for the filter caps for a 5f6a build? I am looking at Sprague's and can only find the 20's. I can find Illinois caps at 22 but they are so cheap that I question their stability. Am I wrong? Or can anyone suggest another brand?
Thank you all very much

Re: chassis and caps

OK, had to go to Fla to work for a month but now I'm back. This 5F6a build being from scratch leaves me with this question: no ground switch. So I planned on running the neutral from the power cord straight to the neutral of the PT,soldering and shrink tubing the connection. Then the line straight t...

Re: SRV Vibroverb real deal not reissue...tonequest report amp..

Could you make it switchable between 2/4/8 ohms if you had the OT with those available? So you could actually change tone in between songs? I'm new at this so please excuse me if that is stupid

Re: Bassman RI

Hey all, Been in fla working but now I'm back. Looking at my turret board I have only 3/8in. spacing between them. Is that enough? Looks close to me but what do I know :D I bought the board from antique electronic supply. Also, I searched for a way to omit the ground switch since I will not have one...

Re: chassis and caps

Yes martin you did. I went to download them and found I already had them. Sorry about that. OK so after much research I am once again baffled. Should I buy the "original" fender iron or merc magnetics, mag components, etc.etc...... being the most expensive part( s) I don't want to get myself into tr...

Re: amp building/ repair stories

Haha. Awesome!!! That is unbelievable you had a dog that could smile. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has had to scramble to secure things on a coffee table  Those pedal parts are smaller than most amp parts. Have you ever soldered and unsoldered a PCB so many times the traces lift? That suc...

Re: amp building/ repair stories

Or the time my dog knocked my soldering iron off of the coffee table as I was in the kitchen getting coffee. When I returned to continue working I stripped on it with my bare foot. I either need a proper work bench or to lock juju up when I work. My last great Dane I owned could literally laun...

Re: Bigfoot Killed

Being fascinated with Bigfoot, I think that pic looks like a clay sculpture with hair. I don't know if that is the actual pic of the Bigfoot he killed( allegedly) but if so they should lock him up for being so stupid. Who in the world stuffs a rubber ape suit and tries to say it's bigfoot!? Does he ...

Re: amp building/ repair stories

Haha...great stories!! I was etching circuit boards to build effects pedals. So I sat my little Pyrex bowl with etching solution on my ceramic top stove...you know the kind that you can't tell which burner is on.....and then go back to my computer. After some time I go back to the stove and pick up ...
