Re: Fully Loaded Rocket
This will somewhat answer the question as to how much can fit into the standard size chassis! Seems like you were able to fit a lot! My question is : what are the dimensions of a standard size chassis? I am shopping for parts for my first amp and would like to know what is the standard size and wha...

Re: Recommendations for a first build?
I was wondering, what is the B+ (voltage after rectification) voltage on a Rocket? I read somewhere that you need a 280 transformer, but I also read a 250... I guess it would work in both cases, but what is the original design? I know the AC30 is ~280 AC + tube rectification, so ~380V for B+ sounds ...

Re: Antek Toroidal PTs
I have purchased three transformers from them in the past before I knew how to figure the final rectified and filtered voltage under load. Unfortunately, no matter what configuration I chose, the end voltage was well over 500 volts, too much for even the JJ 6L6 and 6V6. I don't quite understand why...

Re: Recommendations for a first build?
Thanks for the recommendations. Any way to describe the differences in tone? They all seem to share some aspects with the AC30. I guess they are all as easy to build too?

Recommendations for a first build?
Hello all, I wish to build a good first amplifier. Not a one trick pony but something I can actually play a lot of styles with. Tight and deep bottom end (not like the old fenders) and good highs. I'm looking at something in the range 15-25 watts. I want a very good clean tone, but also a good disto...

Re: Rocket Power Transformer
Right. Thanks! Looks like I'm out of luck. The next 200VA available transformer from Antek is 300V. A little too high I think.

Re: Rocket Power Transformer
Thanks rock_mumbles.
I'm thinking it might give some great sag to the amp. What do you think?

Re: Rocket Power Transformer
What do you guys think about this power transformer for a Rocket? do you think the voltage is high enough? It's a toroidal 240-0-240 rated for 50 VA. http://www.antekinc.com/details.php?p=671 These transformers are quite nice, especially with the cases. http://www.antekinc.com/details.php?p=734 I u...
