Wattage rating for 5E3 resistors: Hoffman vs. Weber values
Hello all, I am making great progress on my 5E3. I bought the kit from Weber, but cut and built my own turret board. It's a slightly modified version of Hoffman's layout for the 5E3. I'm going to post about that in due time. I also upgraded the capacitors, tubes, potentiometers, and output transform...

Re: Eyett fiberboard vs turret boards - BYO vs. Weber
I use 0.68 or 1 uf on the normal side and 10 to 25uf on the bright side in my 5F6A builds. But....I always do a final check/tweaking once I know what speaker type/arrangement and guitar is going to be used. wait, so let me get this straight... you put the more bass heavy capacitor on the bright cha...

MFowler, very cool
Did you just jumper the inputs, and attach variable resistors to the basic circuit?

Re: Eyett fiberboard vs turret boards - BYO vs. Weber
That's good advise. I would have just used a band saw on the G10. I think my shop has a tile saw. Well I ordered some eyelets from mouser, and got the natural G10 from tubedepot with some turrets and some simple press fitting tools with rubber pad. I'm going to make a swage tool. The shop has a stai...

Re: Voltage rating on TONE capacitors for 5E3 build
I have really liked PIO for tone caps in my guitar. It gives my guitar a nice woody organic feel. I assumed I would like them in the tone circuit of my amp. I wouldn't use them as direct coupling caps in my amp. I would save these positions for polyester and polypropylene type caps. Do they make pol...

Jumper channels on your baseman 5F6-A? Internal or external?
I was curious how or if you jumper your 5E3 or 5F6-A fender tweed amps? I am particularly curious as to if you jumper it internally, or if you just use a patch cable. Internal jumper approach: [img:526:478]http://www.tdpri.com/telephoto/uploads/53023/nr571.jpg[/img] [img:690:988]http://www.tdpri.com...

TubeDepot
Well, Tube Depot got my bid. 5$ shipping, great prices, and they take paypal.
I'm sure Hoffman and Turretboards.com sell top notch stuff, but they need to bring their prices down before I can give them my business.

Voltage rating on TONE capacitors for 5E3 build
Hello, I just had a quick question, which I believe I know the answer to, but I was hoping someone would check my thought process. I would like to use PIO caps for the two tone caps in the 5E3. These are the 500 and 5000pf capacitors off the tone potentiometer. These can be had for cheep on Ebay (K-...

Hoffman amps?
There is also Hoffman amplifiers. they seem to be the best, and most well rounded supplier of everything one may need. they sell a pre-drilled 5E3 board for 12$. Granted, I'd like to drill my own to accommodate large coupling capacitors, but 12$ is very reasonable. they also sell eyelets and turrets...

turretboards.com vs tubedepot.com?
How come nobody has mentioned tubedepot as a source for turret building materials?
They seem cheaper than turretboards.com, although they only offer G-10 board with 3" width. That should be fine right?
Any reason not to use tubedepot?

Re: Eyett fiberboard vs turret boards - BYO vs. Weber
xtian, that looks like a nice build. Looks like you added some features to the circuit. Yea, again, I am going back and fourth. I want to just use the fiber board, but i'm trying to be patient and do the right thing. I'm thinking I may try to make a G-10 board with turrets and eyelets so that I can ...

Re: Eyett fiberboard vs turret boards - BYO vs. Weber
Thanks cbass. I agree, those spragues don't look like they would fit on the hoffman layout unless I retweaked it a little bit.
I'll just go ahead and wire it up as is. Thanks for the advise Phil.
