Re: Trainwreck express big troubles! Red plating

So what I did was I disconnected the PPIMV and put the two 220k resistors back on the board to rule that out. I also lifted my bias wire off the board and did a floating connection. Under the board I had a wire going from my connection point on the board to the 100k and 82k plate resistors. Meanwhil...

Re: Trainwreck express big troubles! Red plating

I am going to do exactly what you suggested. I am going to make my bias board smaller and mount on the side wall. I understand the voltages underneath and everytime I have wired this amp I've had the power supply wires in the same spot. I'll try that and get back to you with results. I also just ord...

Re: Trainwreck express big troubles! Red plating

Hey BLT. I have it wired under the board along with the ground from my bias caps. I am just wondering if I need a bigger ground wire to chassis? Or should it be at its own ground point? Right now it's grounded at the same point as my supply ground, rectifier center tap and filament center tap. Also ...

Trainwreck express big troubles! Red plating

Hello everyone! I have built this thing like 4 different time and tried different caps, different wire ect... I keep coming back to the same problem. I'm red plating on my power tubes. I'm starting to test and I supplied my rectifier with 300-0-300. After the rectifier I am drawing 424v before turni...

Re: JCM 800 build..... No Sound at all...

Hey guys. Thanks to Martin manning you we're absolutely correct. The screw head was arcing off the red wire. Now that the 500mA fuse isn't blowing I can finally get my reading. They seem low but maybe someone can find where I have went wrong. And I am still getting no sound at all. Here are my readi...

Re: JCM 800 build..... No Sound at all...

Hey guys

I should say this. When ever I turn the amp on without the tubes in the 500mA fuse blows right away. I see it ARC at the fuse and I also see it ARC where the red wires hook up to the diode from the power transformer. ill Add the pic of where it ARCs.

Re: JCM 800 build..... No Sound at all...

Ok thanks guys.

I have a bit of time tonight to take a few pics and the voltage readings. I will post the pics ASAP.
I appreciate the help so far.

JCM 800 build..... No Sound at all...

Hey everyone. So I have been picking away at my first build. And this is the second time I've built it since it didnt work the first time. I had no sound when plugged in so I figured it was an output thing. Just for fun I got a second output transformer to make sure. I still had no sound. I'm having...
