Re: Steel String Singer #005 build
I can't imagine that it will have a noticeable impact as the high pass filter cutoff shifts from ~ 7 Hz to 15 Hz (edit: 47n to 22n).
Well below the guitar frequency range.

Re: uTracer (Micro Curve Tracer)
Hi Martin, yes, I'm running Ronald's GUI v3.12.6 I measured the voltages directly at C13 and C18 versus cathode. All the measurements were done in continuous mode, i.e. anode/screen directly connected to the reservoir capacitors C13 and C18. I have tried uT JS and see the same. What puzzles me is th...

Re: uTracer (Micro Curve Tracer)
I've got some weird phenomenon going on with my µTracer 3+. Calibration of Va and Vs is fine (measured in continuous mode between C13 and C18 and cathode). When I run the µTracer it indicated lower voltages than what why DMM measures (the same one that was used for calibration). The first table show...

Re: Steel String Singer #005 build
I had these made through a local company here in Germany. It set me back a whopping 220€ and it isn't even painted haha! In hindsight I should've probably looked for someone that would be able to powdercoat and screenprint but taking into account that this is only for a single build that's okay for...

Re: Can a faulty amp make a 6L6 become microphonic?
Sadly, a lot of modern tubes are microphonic. JJ output tubes seem especially prone to it, so much that it's amusing and sad that their distributor sells a lot of dampener rings to try to help mitigate the rattles. A lot of old production tubes were microphonic, too, but specific tube types were de...

Re: Swoosh after turning on amp
Yes, a poor connection will impede current flow which in turn will slow the voltage rise to that tube and make for the same tube reaction that I posted about earlier. I you have a veriac at your disposal you can simulate that same issue by bringing up the voltage to the amp slowly. Unfortunately, I...
