Re: Funny thing is happening with my bias circuit
Hi guys, Thanks for the quick replies...I'm at work now and don't have a way to post a pic, but I can copy the values from the other forum and post here...the 220K's are Red, Red, Orange, verified....I did the easy stuff twice, and even replaced the left-most 220K with a fresh, verified one just in ...

Funny thing is happening with my bias circuit
Let me start off by saying that I barely know what I'm doing. Now, I've gotten some great help from another forum but I don't want to wear out my welcome there and I'd like some fresh eyes on this. I'm building this amp and I have current all the way to the "negative" board side of the left-most 220...

Re: Good choice for clean, full, balanced amp?
[/quote] The California Dreamer is a Fender blackface Deluxe, hacked to just the normal channel, without the reverb, reverb recovery stage, etc. . The full circuit designation is AB763. Paired with 2 6V6 it's a Deluxe. Paired with 2 6L6 it's a Super, or Vibro, etc. paired with 4 6L6 it's a Twin. Simp...

Re: Good choice for clean, full, balanced amp?
Hey guys, just got time to revisit this thread and I do in fact have a lot of food for thought now. I suppose I'd drop the 30 watt limit - the reason I imposed it upon myself in the first place was that I have a set of transformers from a Peavey Classic 30 that I thought I might use. But since I lik...

Re: Good choice for clean, full, balanced amp?
Thanks tubeswell. I'm looking all around the net now for a plan that's within my capabilities. Some have offered the ax84 California Dreamer as well, but it's an old project and I don't know how well documented it is these days. Also I think I read that it will break up above middle volumes. I'm not...

Good choice for clean, full, balanced amp?
What's a good choice in your opinion for a clean, full, amp with no tremolo or reverb? Say 15-30 watt range?

Re: Transformers - What do I have here?
Ok, I'm gonna do it! If you hear from me Friday you'll know I survived. By the by, house was empty yesterday so I turned the 18 watter up to 11. Man, this thing sounds way too good to have been built by me! Thanks again for all the help...I'll say it again, this forum is awesome!

Re: Transformers - What do I have here?
Ok, I think I can follow all this when I hit town again Thursday. I will email Peavey as well. But since I need to know how to do all this for future reference I'll still take the readings. Are you guys saying to plug a power cord into the wall, and strip and stuff the blue 120? into the hot and the...
