Re: F*#king 1/4" phone plugs!
Switchcraft user here also. I will run a piece of paper through the switch part with a little Deoxit and it will clean it a little - it seems to help with the coating. On older switched with some slight corrosion I use very fine sandpaper - make one swipe only - then clean with a swipe of paper and ...

Re: Dealing with pickup squeal at the amp.
This sounds silly - but have you tried shielding the guitar better - with actual foil and everything is grounded properly. Case in point - kid complains of feedback squeal in his newly built amp. I go through it several times and just can't duplicate the complaint. I ask him to bring his "Les Paul" ...

Re: Mesa Express 5:50 Replacement pot
Thank you to everyone who helped with this issue.
I was able to order a new pot and knob from CTS - which should be here is a few days - and I can finally get this job outa here.
I appreciate all of the help.

Thanks for the schematic.martin manning wrote:250kA. What symptom tells you it's bad? If it's scratchy, is a cap between it and the high DCV leaky? Is there any DC on the input lug?
The owner broke off the shaft from the pot. I suppose it fell against something.
Mechanical failure - so I have to replace it.

Re: Mesa Express 5:50 Replacement pot
Don't you think it's a standard 250K pot? With, like, 14% tolerance? I haven't been able to locate a schematic either - so it's either a 250K - or a 200K - either of which could have drifted a little. Or knowing Mesa - it's a 220K - If I only had a schematic ...... But - yes - I have contacted Mesa...

Re: Just joined looking for tech help
Since I already pissed off one newb and scared him off, I might as well go for two. You aren't ruffling any feathers. We just find it amusing (at least I do) when the newb of the day comes in and, as Tonemerc said so well, wants us to redesign the chevette into a corvette. Next? Who's number three?...

Re: New to the forum--need help modifying a schematic/layout
If you haven't built an amp before from scratch you may want to start with some simple circuits and go up from there.
So - where are you experience wise building amps?

Re: Front Panel Designer Help Please
I found that once I was able to get the holes aligned properly - or at least close to it - I worked on the numbering around one hole - and once it was satisfactory I simply copied it to each additional hole. I drew a circle in the approximate diameter I was needing and put the numbers around the cir...

Re: Front Panel Designer Help Please
Here's my progress so far - I want to say it is finished - but some more measurements and final checks before I send the file to get machined.
And you know - once THIS design is finalized it makes it easier to make amp face plates for other projects I have in mind for the future.

Front Panel Designer Help Please
Who is using Front Panel Designer for manufacturing amp face plates for their amps? I have recently "discovered" this vendor with the free application - and frankly - I find it a wonderful tool for design work of the panels. My question is this: I cannot get exacting measurements even at the smalles...
