Re: Ground buzz - Driving me crazy
Probably because the battery is connected to the same ground as the jack and is injecting noise into the ground which is being picked up by the input stage. A battery is (or at least should be if wired correctly) the cleanest power you can get (pure DC) and as such should not inject noise. The boos...

Re: Ground buzz - Driving me crazy
What about with nothing plugged in? Do you have the hot lug of the input jack on the amp connected to ground if nothing is plugged in? And if not then plug in a cable (without guitar) and short the hot and ground on the other side of the cable. Do you get the buzzing? If yes the problem is in the am...

Re: Debris in a tube / valve
The tube in the amp is right side up so the debris sits between the tubes connector lugs and if conductive it would cause a problem.
If it is cathode material would it come of during operation or during manufacturing? And same for mica - manufacturing or operation?

Re: Debris in a tube / valve
I've had the tube for a while so I cannot return it.
I didn't notice it until the other day but I've had the amp up side down a lot. I'm not saying that the debris wasn't there before tho.
Yes, the tube does work normally.

Re: Debris in a tube / valve
Thanks for your input everybody.
I was just afraid the parts would be conductive and could/would cause a short. But looks like it's safe to use.
Kind regards,
Robert

Debris in a tube / valve
Hi Yesterday I was making some measurements on my tube amp head and for that I needed the head to be up side down. I noticed some debris inside one of the power tubes (Electro hamonix 6L6). Can someone tell me if the debris is metallic (and tube replacement is in order) or is it glass (no need for c...

Re: Mini Z Questions
At idle your plate voltage should be a few V higher than your screen voltage. Ether it was a typo or you connected screen and plate wrong.dorrisant wrote:
I used the MOSFET B+dropper to get the plate voltage down to 266V with the screen at 277v.

Robert
