thanks for the replies.yes,i have an 12ay7 at v1, and 5y3gt at v5 and not weber's wy3gt.where is more possible to have a cold joint?maybe at the tube's grounding?

yeay, i've tried at both inputs, both channels.i've played with the same guitars in another 5e3, too, which also have the same "problem"

5e3 humbucker mod
hi!i have a weber 5e3 and when i plug in a guitar with hambuckers, the bass strings sound cranked-distorted, even at very low volume.it happens only with humbuckers and the lower pitch the more distorded sound. should i do any mod to fix this?any ideas?thank you

thanks! hmm,it's difficult for me to explain..i don't mean crunchy by distorted.i mean bad quality sound The volume on the channel that you are NOT plugged into should have a very noticeable impact on the sound. that's what i'm trying to say, too.when i'm plugged at bright channel the normal pot doe...

well,success at least!thank you guys,i would not have done it without your help!i resoldered and cleaned and i'm pretty sure i've done a good job now here.my amp plays loud and "clear" now!thank you all very much!!!just wanna ask two more questions.i suspect my normal channel pot is faulty or i brok...

that's great martin,thank you!you may think my english is good,but i couldn't understand this sentence though haha Sliding heat shrink or even 18 gauge wire jacket stripping over those resistors on the input jacks should be done. rd jones,that's an optical illusion of the photo,they are not touching...

well,i've got some news.my amp finally plays as loud as it should be,after cleaning as tsutt adviced me.however,the problems do not stop here.sometimes(not always), the volume pot at bright channel do not work,it plays at the same volume,wherever i adjust it.and the sound is now distorted at both ch...
