Re: Small Special project, Morgan guts
you think so? I'm comparing prices, Hammonds are quite expensive.
Last plexi I built it's been more convenient to go Marstran.
Anyway, I'm not sure about which Hammond to buy as well, that's why I was asking about Classic Tone, to compare their specs to Hammonds at Tube-town.

Re: Small Special project, Morgan guts
Thank you all guys.
Which Classic Tone transformers are the best fit for this projects?
I'm getting confused by too many models.

Re: Small Special project, Morgan guts
yes, this helps a lot.
I'm using the layout found here to trace differences and the values I'm missing.
Thanks.

Small Special project, Morgan guts
Hi all, I'm really interested in building a Small Special. There are a couple of threads about this project, and the Morgan SW50 came up as an amp that probably is based on this project. On an australian tech blog there are some huge guts images: here and here . My knowledge is very limited, I've bu...

Re: minimalist single clean channel?
T H A N K Y O U !! After listening to Morgan SW amp line clips, I'd like to have something like that. 5E3 size is ok of course, but I can consider building something slightly larger as well. A couple of 6L6s and a couple of 12AX7s, that's it. Unfortunately Morgan amps are very difficult and expensiv...

minimalist single clean channel?
I need a small, portable and clean combo amp to run with pedals. I used to have a Ceriatone Ods, and a friend of mine has a HRM 100. Since I loved the clean channel of my 50w ODS and I remember it takes pedals so well, I'd like a stripped version of that channel. No fet input, no switches, no PAB, j...

Re: Made a few changes. How is tone?
Love it.
Just for reference, could you say which settings of the amp?
Thanks.

Re: I'd like a Dumble, but...
Interesting... thanks a lot. It would be my second Ceriatone, I don't know why many of you have doubts about trannies quality, I guess Shinrock could be better, but my 1986 plexi from Ceriatone is far above the best plexi based amp I've ever played. Anyway, with that price tag the quality is astonis...

Re: I'd like a Dumble, but...
The problem is not the Van Welden (anyway, probably soon I'll have the chance to play one of the 12s ever made), but the Fuchs sound vs. Ceriatone Dumble. I know few people could play the Ceriatone overtone, but I guess some of you can understand quite well the main character of the amp looking at t...

I'd like a Dumble, but...
I'm not a lead player, I'm the rhythm guitar player in a rock-blues-soul band. Last summer I enjoyed in a festival two concerts, Joe Bonamassa the first night and Carlton-Ford the second one. I was on the first row in front of the stage, I listened directly to amps more than the Meyer PA amplified s...

Re: Is it a Dumble the amp for me? from soul to stoner
The JTM45 is an obvious and good suggestion, takes pedal like a dream, it sounds big, it has good cleans, Nik makes it, it's a plug and play amp etc. (I had a Marshall reissue), with the right pedals it can cover everything.
But,
why not a Dumble?

Re: Is it a Dumble the amp for me? from soul to stoner
Nik can build a non hrm late '80 50w Dumble clone.
I trust him 'cause I bought an amp for me and order other for some friends.
I'm still wondering about sag for chords, doesn't anyone know how far is a Fuchs ODS from a '80 Dumble?
Does the non-HRM sound way more midrangey and "vintage" like?

Re: Is it a Dumble the amp for me? from soul to stoner
:) you're not completely wrong but.... Trainwreck is a beast under fingers, a too much difficult amp to tame, I don't want that kind of amp. I need a clean tone (a bit of edge on it it's not a problem) that I can use with the guitar volume pot on ten and strumming hard, a single channel hard rock am...
