Re: High Gain Rocket
3 years later...does anyone have a layout of this Rocket Triode Boost? Showing how to implement on a non-reverb Rocket would be helpful.

Re: Rocket pre amp help
Mark, did you use the Weber relay with the footswitch? If not, how did you add it?

Re: Rocket pre amp help
I added an on/off switch with a 25uf cap and I really like the boost option! I may also try another switch for more options - 10uf, off, 25uf... Sorry if my layouts were incorrect earlier. Didn't have the switch and meter at the time. Easy enough when you do:) While the boost is a great feature it w...

Re: Rocket pre amp help
I'd like to add a boost mod to my Rocket. Can someone tell me if the bottom layout is correct. Top shows stock layout as a reference. I realize I'm skating on thin ice here and could use some help

Re: Rocket Hum
Sounds like a good plan and the height should be enough depending on which caps you use. Perhaps with any cap choice.
The Liquid Nails I used to mount mine has proven to work well so far. Much better than the hot glue.

Update
Here's an update a few weeks later for future troubleshooters... Initially I thought the aluminum cover made a big difference, but it really only helped when the amp was upside down while working on it in a room with dimmers. Occasionally the aluminum foil (now switched to a plate)would also touch t...

Re: Rocket Hum
Yes, debugging can be very frustrating indeed. I learned a lot in the process though. Here's a photo of the final amp. One thing worth mentioning...someone recommended hot glue for the cap stack. After some serious heat from playing and then moving a few wires around, once it was cool, the whole thi...

Re: Rocket Hum
This is a great thread about transformer vibration / hum: https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=17505&sid=7211140f4aa26e019a97d815b9a7d786 The Heyboers I use are pretty loud when close to them, and to some degree it affected my overall hum perception. I can still hear some hum through the speak...

Re: Rocket Hum
Interesting and it all makes sense for sure. Again, in my case the reduction in hum seemed to be mainly due to separating filter grounds and the shield/cover, but they all add up for sure. Next I'll remove the 68k input resistor and mount on the tube socket with shielded wire. Yes, only one side to ...

Re: Rocket Hum
Andy - Wow! I thought I had already tried all possible grounding combinations with no difference, including removing the pots from chassis to isolate. I did both of the above and in combination with a heavy aluminum cover placed under a large book it's a night and day difference. I am so thrilled!!!...

Re: Rocket Hum
I measured about 2.5 volts AC on the B+ on startup. After a while it went up to 4V. Power tube plates all have the same AC (DC is 340). Pre tubes have almost no AC.cbass wrote:Measure AC voltage at the B+ that should give an idea if your filter caps are filtering.

Re: Rocket Hum
I checked resistance on all grounds and they measure 0.4ohms or less.
The OT battery tester sounds like a good thing to try.
