Re: a year later - reduced hum

Oh and since I last posted - the speaker now is a WGS 10" G10C, reccomend those guy's speakers. How would you characterize the tone with this speaker?......... I don't have a lot of guitar speaker tone experience to compare with, but the clarity and clean bass plus volume capability is not far behi...

a year later - reduced hum

After enjoying my Eagle for almost a year, I decided to try reducing the "not too bad" hum. So I looked at photo's of prior builders on this thread and compared to mine and found a couple areas to tweak - redid the ground path for C8, moved heater wires and taped to chassis, unsoldered an OT to jack...

Re: The Eagle Supre - Big SE Amp

Day two - Remember those nerd T-shirts that say " your ..... doesn't work ? Did you mess with it ?? " Well this AM I decided to clean up the amp wiring a bit and get the tube to seat better and it ended up dark and silent !!! %%#$@**&&##@#$%^> Never fear - an hour or two of head scratching, coffee a...

Re: The Eagle Supre - Big SE Amp

What guitar is that? Looks like a LP but has an interesting "up the neck" relief cutout. Looks like two cutouts... On hum, i built the kit, then modded it quite a bit but it still has literally ZERO hum. Amazingly quiet. I'm sure it was more lucky than anything but i'd rather be lucky than the oppo...

another Eagle has it's test flight

Well after delays due to non-guitar events, I started on/finished the Amp - got sound and works pretty good - slight hum, but no more than my Goodsell - tone controls work w/ good range, vol cranked gives tube distortion and loud - at half vol works nice w/ my acoustic w/ K&K PWMini - speaker is an ...

Re: The Eagle Supre - Big SE Amp

Newby here on the wait list for a kit - no mods planned until I get sound vs. smoke out of it first. Thinking an EL84 would be interesting eventually and doing it w/ parts and not resorting to a yellowjacket.

Re: new dutch member saying hello

Welcome - also a newbe here - I'm getting up to speed by reading the book "The Guitar Amp Handbook" by Dave Hunter .
It was available at my local library - Amazon has it too - check it out, things get more clear and debunks a bunch of myths in the first 40 pages.

Re: New member from Minn.

Looking for a 2-5 w practice head since I have a couple old Superscope stereo speakers in nice cabinets that I could turn into combo's that now have 10" woofer, 4" mid and tw - if amp works then I'd think about a new 10" guitar specific speaker. Goodsell has power to spare for home use. Eagle Supre ...

Hi Just got started on electrics after putting a K+K PWM in my Acoustic Guitar and plugging it into AUX2 on my home surround system - it works but I probably need a preamp as volume needs to be 40+ / 50. Then on to a Larrivee RS-4 electric and an ebay 5/17 watt used tube Amp, nice but pretty loud ev...
