Re: TW Express clone with a Post PI Master Vol...

I cant hit you with a bunch of hi tech terms but I put a MV in the Express I just built for a guy and he loved it. He said it allowes him to do so much more with the amp. We had a couple of set backs but we got it where he wanted it and it sounds great. Now with that said......I dont have the ear fo...

Re: more gain at low volume

Thanks Gents. I used the cap box and went across the 10k going to the 3rd leg of the 2nd 12AX7 and he loved it. Think I will try this and see what happens. Any other suggestions would be welcome still.

Re: more gain at low volume

The cab is not the issue. We have ran it through 2 different 4 x12 cabs, 2 x 12 cab, and 1 x 12 cab and he still has the issue. All of these cabs are new as well. Marshall 4 x12, Mesa Boogie 4 x12 and 2 x12, and Vox 1 x 12. Like I said, he loves it with the volume on 10 but when you get down around ...

more gain at low volume

I just built my first Trainwreck Clone for a buddy and he loves the way it sounds cranked up but wants more gain at lower volume. I have already amped the preamp stage up by changing the 500pF cap leading into the treble pot to a 220pF (Fender Cap) and changed the 56k between leg 6 of the #2 12AX7 t...

Re: Fellow Texans

I can see that point Gibsonman63. I am just used to the other forums (car and gun) that I'm on and everybody post a HOWDY on the newbie page at least to introduce themselves. Just a difference in interest I guess but no harm no foul. I did notice however that you have posted alot so Howdy Fellow Tex...

Re: Anybody tried bypassing V2 in an Express clone?

I threw a cap around the 56k res in between the 1st and 2nd 12ax7 and it had good gain. We did it with aligator clamps but we are going to wire it in as a foot switch. The guy I built it for loves the amp at 10 but wanted more gain at lower volume.

Newbie

Hey I just found the site and wanted to hello from Weatherford Texas. I have just completed my first Trainwreck Clone and wish I would have located the site 2 days ago but I worked my way through my problems with another amp repair guy and the shop I work part time at.
