Re: Express Question - Preamp vs. Poweramp distortion
I haven't that much of experience, but I have tried a TS-9 (with the 808 mod) in front of my ceriatone express (sorry, I bought a clone and yes I feel bad), and it will push it into extreme metal, although very noisy. A set of EMGs will clean up in the rhythm department and make it less noisy, but y...

Re: Express done.. I love it! (title edit)
Thanks for this great thread. A lot of useful information here for us Ceriatone owners. I'll try some of these mods myself, as I have some similar experience with the tone. Although I don't hate it, I'll have to admit it could need some tightening up in the lower registers, and some warming in the h...

Re: Another Ceriatone Damaged
My Ceriatone Express arrived in good working order, with no damage, but the box was really beaten up. It didn't have much of the corners left. The trip from Kuala Lumpur is obviously a rough ride. The disadvantage of the chips, even if the amp itself was bubble wrapped good in my case, is that heavy...

Re: P-90s (Gibson R6) + Ceriatone Express = bliss
When I finally get a working Liverpool clone  I'm really looking forward to trying out my Loper Tele with Fralin P90s. It sounds good with ordinary amps, so this should be something special... :D Oh, I'd be very interested in clips with that setup. In a distant future I might check out a coup...

I haven't tried it with any other decent amps, but itt even makes a cheap Fender solid state amp sound good (with loads of gain, even!).sliberty wrote:I also love P90's with my Express, but then again, I love P90's with every decent amp I have tried.

Right, I think I might have read something along those lines too.Bear wrote:I got the impression somewhere that Ken liked P-90 Gibsons with the Wrecks quite a bit.

P-90s (Gibson R6) + Ceriatone Express = bliss
I just bought myself a second hand Gibson Goldtop Les Paul 1956 Reissue loaded with P-90s, and just have to say that it feels like it was made for my trainwreck. It's absolutely stunning, I just can't stop playing :o Especially the neck pickup, with the tone turned low, growls merrily, tones sustain...

Thanks, I'll just leave it there if that sound from the OT is normal.

Re: Strange noise from (ceriatone) Express itself, not speaker
if it's coming from the OT (sort of a "zizz" or buzz), that would be normal. You usually don't hear it because you usually aren't in the situation of having the output section on full but acoustic volume near zero (IOW the speaker signal would normally mask the sound coming from the OT). Ok, and th...

Re: Strange noise from (ceriatone) Express itself, not speaker
I have the same thing happening to a 5f1 champ kit. Your description of loud, buzzy music through headphones nails it. I believe its resulting form the same dumb mistake (power with no load). I've since replaced about everything EXCEPT the OT and the problem remains. That's next in line. Anyone els...

Strange noise from (ceriatone) Express itself, not speaker
Some time ago I received the complete (assembled) kit from Nik with the PPIMV(?) mod. It works well, but lately I have discovered a noise when running the amp with a Webe Mass attenuator. When I have the Volume on about 1 o'clock, the MV cranked and the attenuator on bedroom level (almost 0, in othe...

Re: Any norwegians here?
Heisann. (Hi) Although I've not posted much yet, I am Norwegian. Oslo, to be precise. I've assembled a Madamp G2, modded a JCM 900 (not my own mods) and soldered together a couple of effect pedals (other's designs), but so far not really built/assembled an amp all by myself (sourcing parts, choosing...

Re: Ceriatone Express clip
Thanks for the sweet clip. I'm waiting for a complete Ceriatone Express amp myself, and this makes the waiting easier. Also, now I'm sure I didn't order the wrong amp
