Re: Recording Techniques for getting Great Dumble Tone

I find a nice ribbon mic such as the CAD Trion 7000 or Beyer M160 works well at keeping things nice and warm and dispensing of any top-end "hash". YMMV.

Re: Humbly Submitting DLite Vids for Viewing........

Hey Guys, Thanks for your time and opinions. Like many of you, I tend to lean toward guitar-driven music so Shawni's (my wife) tunes are a bit of a stretch for me musically. She's really a talented singer/songrwriter/musician but I fear that her songs fall into the dreaded "Adult Contemporary" class...

Re: Humbly Submitting DLite Vids for Viewing........

Howdy Dogears! Thanks for the nice words. Yep, it's a promo shoot. Actually the singer/songwriter is my wife. We've been "playing" together since 1995, and married since 1997. She (we) is chasing her dream. It's been temporarily put on hold........we're expecting our second child tomorrow! We'...

Humbly Submitting DLite Vids for Viewing........

Hey All, I've been on this board for quite awhile and while I don't post much, I've learned tons. Early last year, I built a DLite and I've been gigging and recording with it since. Here's a few videos of a live show where I used a DLite with a little delay/modulation thrown in on a tune. http://www...

Re: 50 watt vs. 100 watt PS differences

Hi Bob, Thanks for the reply. I did the lantern battery thing-no improvement. When I pull V1, the noise gets worse, when I pull V2 it gets a little worse again, when I pull V3, the noise is gone. It's definitely preamp related. I can trace it with a scope and find it in all 4 gain stages of the pre ...

50 watt vs. 100 watt PS differences

Hey All, I have a Hybrid A build with 4 6l6's for the output. The PS is built to the Hybrid A schematic. There is an existing 120hz noise in the amp that will not go away regardless of heaters, wire dressing, etc. I'm wondering if the filtering on the PS needs to be different to accomodate the extra...

Re: Help! 120Hz. hummmmmmmm

Hey Guys, I just finished rebuilding the ground buss for the preamp. The pre ground buss is now grounded only at the point of the input. No other grounds exist for the preamp and all controls. That seemed to help the hum. We still have some noise though. I'm going to investigate the power supply and...

Re: Help! 120Hz. hummmmmmmm

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all of the suggestions! I will try the lantern battery and double check grounds and R values. I have tried swapping tubes-no dice. I will get pics posted today.

Thanks!

Hey Bob,
The heaters are wired false center tap using 100r resistors. I will try to get some pics posted.

Thanks!

Help! 120Hz. hummmmmmmm

Hey All, I'm just about finished debugging my Hybrid A build. So far, it sounds quite good and I'm very happy with the tone! But, I've got a 120hz hum all of the time. It seems to get worse with the "volume" (after CL1) at the first or last third of it's travel. The hum is least when the volume is i...

1/2 power switch anyone?

Howdy all, I have a D Clone that I recently bought from someone partially completed. It's mostly a Hybrid A design. It has 4 6l6's in the output section though. It was intended to have a 1/2 power switch. Does anyone have a schematic showing the proper implementation of the 1/2 power switch? Specifi...
