Re: Would you like see this board expand the discussion?
I dont know about Marshalls Fenders etc... Plexi Palace and Metro cover Marshalls about as well as can be done. Maybe too good :) Same with Fenders adn Vox's etc.. The only reason I vote yes is because Dumble and TrainWreck are sorta always mentioned in the same breath. Theyre like twins though they...

Re: PSA about PEC Pots
Well the PEC's shaft is a little longer but it's usable. With Alphas I can actually make the knob hit the faceplate. With the PEC's you will have maybe 1/16th to 1/8th of space depending on the type of knob you are using. If you're coming to the ampfest this weekend I can show you one installed in ...

Re: PSA about PEC Pots
Hi Guys, I don't know if this has been posted before! I just got back from a business trip to Mansfield, TX outside of Dallas. The home of Mouser Electronics. When I visit this customer I always go to Mouser for a Will Call pick-up to save on shipping. I ordered two pots listed as NTE 2 watt mil sp...

Re: PSA about PEC Pots
Hey Chris. I know everyone at metro is using them and George uses them in all his builds but FWIW I think its all about action and vintage look. I asked George about it and he said he thought the Alphas are just as good. Im about to replace my new 67 build with all PECs but only for the stated reaso...

Re: Board Layouts...
Wiring layout. Keep it neat, short as you can, and keep DC carrying wires away from the wires carrying the AC signal like grid wires and wires from the volume and tone controls.

Re: HERESY???
This bit about "known on occasion to determine the suitability of potential friends by their ability to mentally calculate the square root of two" is a bit much... I determine the suitability of my potential friends by thier ability not to be such assinine, immature, condescending jackoffs that the...

Re: Would you like see this board expand the discussion?
Im in between. I like to have this place for the Wrecks, Metro for marshalls, 18watt etc... But Dumbles kind of fit together with Wrecks. They have a similar mystique about them though Dumbles are a bit more notorious because of the builder. Maybe just open up a D forum and thats it. For now anyway....

Re: HERESY???
I can tell you that unless you plan to sell something with the word "Dumble" on it you're just fine. From what I understand Mr. Dumble has far more to worry about than people saying his name. he can't sue you for talking about an un-pattented design (Well not since western electric anyway!) so feel...

Re: HERESY???
HS! I went to that one Dumble site with all the pictures. It had a scan of the D price sheet. I almost fell out of my seat. Get this. For Customer service, up to 10 minutes on the phone costs $200 then $15 a minute for every minute after. Do you F'ing believe this guy?

Re: HERESY???
Yeah thats my understanding as well. He scares people with lawyers but the truth is he has no rights or patents on anything in his amps. So just say Dumbo or Humble. A common word that its useless to do a search for. D u m b l e takes to long to type
Thats why I just call them D amps.

Re: HERESY???
Nice Job. You went the more traditional Fender layout the way Dumbles are layed out. I dont think Dumbles are really that much more complex then Wrecks. They just have the circuits split on more boards. You could lay a D out like a Wreck and simplify it, the main difference being the extra gain stag...

Damn the list is growing since I left last night. OK. Lets reverse this. If you want it email me at billybatz AT verizon.net Why do you have to leave 1 thing out? Seems a little strange, but... Not by choice. There is one thing thats a very obvious change to the power supply that someone gave me to ...
